The short version
- Blimp stores what you put into it: your name, your status, the people and groups you connect with.
- Only people you've connected with can see your status. Your Trail is only ever visible to you.
- No ads, no tracking, no analytics tools, and we don't sell your data.
- You can delete your account, and everything in it, from inside the app.
Who we are
Blimp is an iPhone app for sharing one short, current status with people you choose. It is operated by Blimp Social App ("we", "us"), based in Indonesia. You can reach us at support@blimp.party.
What we collect
| What | Details |
|---|---|
| Your account | You sign in with Apple. Apple gives us an identifier for your account and, if Apple includes them, your name and an email address (which may be Apple's private relay address). We use the email only to identify your account; we don't send you marketing. |
| Your name | The display name your people see, up to 30 characters. |
| Your Blimp | Your current status (up to 30 characters), its dot color, when you set it, and any effect you chose. |
| Your Trail | The history of statuses you've set, with their times. It also lets the app suggest a Quick Blimp for the time of day you usually use it. |
| Quick Blimps | The presets you save for one-tap switching. |
| Connections and groups | Who you're connected with, the groups you're in, your invite codes and optional PINs (PINs are stored hashed), and the people you've removed, blocked or muted. |
| Private labels | Nicknames, initials and pins you set for your people. Only you see these. |
| Cheers | The cheers you send to a friend's Blimp, and the love and muscle taps you send to a group. |
| Reports | If you report someone: the reason, your note, and that person's status at the time. |
| Blimp+ | If you subscribe: which plan, Apple's transaction identifier, and when it expires. Apple handles the payment; we never see your card details. |
| Technical records | Like any online service, our servers log requests (for example IP address and time), and we count failed invite-code attempts to stop abuse. |
What we don't collect
Blimp doesn't ask for your location, contacts, photos, microphone or camera. It has no advertising or analytics software in it, and it doesn't track you across other apps or websites.
Who can see what
- Your people. Anyone you're connected with sees your name, your current Blimp, how long ago you set it, and your effect if you have one. Connecting is always mutual: you share a code, or enter someone else's.
- Group members. Joining a group connects you with its members, and they see the same things.
- Cheers. The person you cheer sees how many cheers their Blimp has and how many people sent them, never who. Group taps show as a total for the day.
- Only you. Your Trail, your nicknames for people, and who you've muted, removed or blocked. Nobody is told when you mute, remove, block or report them.
- Everyone else. Nothing. There are no public profiles, and Blimp can't be searched.
How we use it
To run the app: show your status to your people and theirs to you, fill your widgets, keep your Trail, apply your Blimp+ plan, and stop spam and abuse. We look at reports to keep people safe. That's all. We don't use your data for advertising or to build a profile of you, and we don't sell it.
On your iPhone
The app keeps a copy of your people's latest statuses and your sign-in session on your device, so widgets can show them. Signing out clears it.
Who helps us run Blimp
- Apple: Sign in with Apple and, for Blimp+, App Store purchases.
- Supabase: hosts our database and sign-in system. Your data is stored on their servers on our behalf.
We share data with them only so they can provide those services. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you have an account. Your current Blimp never expires; it shows its age instead. You can delete Trail entries one at a time.
Deleting your account (Settings › Delete Account) deletes your profile, your Blimp and Trail, your Quick Blimps, your connections, your cheers and any reports linked to you, and takes you out of your groups. Two things remain: the text of invite codes you used stays retired so nobody else can claim them (it is no longer linked to you), and Apple keeps its own record of your purchases. To also remove Blimp from your Apple Account, go to iPhone Settings › your name › Sign in with Apple.
Your choices
- Change your name, status and codes at any time in the app.
- Remove, block or mute anyone.
- Delete your account in the app, or ask us to.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct it, by emailing us. Depending on where you live, the law may give you further rights, such as objecting to how we use your data or complaining to your data protection authority.
Children
Blimp isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has made an account, tell us and we'll delete it.
Where your data is kept
Our servers may be in a different country from you. Wherever your data is, we protect it as this policy describes.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we'll tell you in the app first.
